STRAVA ADDS VIDEO UPLOAD

Getting more social, now with video and photo uploads.

Just over a week ago we attended Camp Strava, where they gave us the lowdown on the new Trail Route feature as well as the addition of video uploads. Some of you might remember but Strava for a long time had given users the ability to link their Instagram images and videos to an activity. Then a few years ago they turned that service off and brought it internal. Since then we have enjoyed the ability to upload images only, but now we can also share videos. Well, for now, some of us. Starting today, Strava is giving access to 25% of the community and will scale that up to 100% over the next few weeks.

Video

As of today, everyone will be able to see videos in their feed but not everyone will be able to upload them right away. Video clips of up to 30 seconds can now be added to activity uploads, and there’s no limit on how many videos you can add. If your video file is longer, Strava will trim it automatically. Landscape and portrait orientations are both supported. Videos play auto-looped, and the ability to watch and upload videos is free for all athletes (not part of the subscription).

Camp Strava

Rahsaan Bahati was there to show us all how to ride bikes, but most importantly, being a great ambassador to the sport like always.

Strava hosted a sort of summer camp themed event that included special speakers, activities & games as well as food & drinks. The majority of the attendees were in the running space, but it was a great opportunity to see how others are using Strava and how their communities interact with the platform. For us, the best part was the social bike ride. We had about 25 people on the ride with a huge mix of experience levels. From pro racers to first-timers, it was so much fun. The route wasn’t long at just 10 miles, but it might be the toughest 10 miles in the area. The highlight of the route was a 500ft climb that was under a mile long. Strava definitely pushed everyone and it was worth it.

All smiles at the peak of the Camp Strava ride.

Hudski Bikes had everyone riding in style and the Hub Bike Shop supplied a few Specialized Levo e-bikes too. Overall it was a mixed selection of gravel bikes and flat bar bikes for the ride over to the old M*A*S*H filming site.

definitely a cool destination.
