2022 TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 19 RESULTS
Christophe Laporte cheekily jumped the sprinters to win stage 19 of the Tour de France. As the peloton barreled down on the remnants of the second breakaway of the day, Laporte bridged to the leaders with 1000 meters to go causing the sprinters to hesitate. The hesitation was all Laporte needed to open up a small gap and sprint to victory in the final 500 meters to become the first French winner at this year’s Tour. Jasper Philipsen led the sprinters in second with Aleberto Dainese third a second behind Laporte.
Laporte’s Jumbo teammate Jonas Vingegaard remains in the overall lead, 3:26 ahead of Tadej Pogacar, Geraint Thomas is in third, 8:00 back.
Saturday’s penultimate stage is a 25 individual time trial with riders set to hit the Champs-Elysees on Sunday.
